Toylonda T Gardner
My name is Toylonda Gardner, born in Springfield Il but raised between Carbondale Il and Chicago Il. My mom lives in Carbondale and my dad was raised between Chicago and Mississippi. I am 45 years old as of April 29,2025. I have 10 biological children and have legally raised 22 other kids. Life has not been an easy country street road. I had my first son at 14 years old. I had to raise myself because my mother gave up on my brother and I at age 11 and my brother 9 years old. I’ve been a mother longer than I’ve been anything else on this earth. This is all I know. I can honestly say I’ve never been a child; that’s why it has always been important for my children to be kids and don’t grow up too fast. Only help I have ever gotten has been my father (My Ace Boone Coon). I am very resilient; I work very hard to get the things I need and want in life. For every NO! There is a YES! I just strive harder to get that YES! I never ask anyone for anything because man will always fail you, over the years my dad and I have just struggled through life. I have a vision, a story and a purpose. Ther’s so much to tell , so many obstacles, a vison that’s destined to be told .
My 2nd born child born DeMarcus Montell Davis now (ZA’ CHRIEL -WHICH MEANS “KEEPER OF MEMORIES “) I renamed him because his father named him and his name had no meaning, so I named him as he should be remembered, died 22 months ago from a drug overdose, he was my hero. July 3,2023 was his death day and every 3rd of the month we release 6 red balloons in his honor. Red is his favorite color and he was born Nov 6,1996. I fought hard to try and protect him from getting high and put him into treatment. He was a drug dealer most of his teenage years and was first introduced to doing drugs by his own father. We had our ups and downs. He was my feisty child, always in trouble but very smart, unique in so many ways, he was our protecter, even though he was born 2nd he thought he was first he was the big brother to everyone. In the end we said our sorry, Thank You, whatever I did to hurt you but in the end it wasn’t enough.
I’ve been through so much and still struggling but I never thought I had a purpose until my baby died. Now my purpose is to tell his story, tell our story. Keep his dreams and memories alive until the day I leave this earth. Za’Chriel’s Destination will one day help the world succeed through many journeys in life. Screaming on the inside “IT’S TIME TO BE FREE”.
