ON DEMAND - An Overview of Gambling Addiction

Gambling Disorder is one of several disorders that are called behavioral or process addictions.  This presentation will review several process addictions highlighting linkages between them and substance use disorders. Although there are some interesting similarities with substance use disorders, the definitive neurobiology of gambling disorder is still being worked out.  This presentation will review the current state of knowledge as well as highlight insights gained from the medications that have been investigated to treat gambling disorder.

Dr. Kirk Moberg is a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.  During his clinical career he served as the medical director of three addiction treatment centers in Peoria, Champaign and Urbana.  He received his MD and PhD at the U of I Urbana campus and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine.
